A computer monitor has a much finer dot pitch, typically 0.28 mm or less compared with 0.51 mm or more for small screen TV sets and 0.81 mm or more for TV screens 18 inches and up. A 15 inch computer monitor can actually deliver more resolution than a 40 inch standard TV.
